September 2007 Expedition Report
Lon spent August and half of September in Ethiopia working on domes and
dairies.
There were several objectives:
1st, to get someone who could assist Lon in managing the artificial insemination
operation, that we hope to use to distribute the world’s best dairy and beef
semen to all farmers in Ethiopia through World Wide Sires (WWS) of Visalia,
California. This is very important, because Ethiopia has never had quality semen
like that available by being affiliated with WWS. Click

February 2007 Expedition Report
We installed the new satellite T V in the compound and began working out
requirements and procedures for it’s educational and incentive use with the
kids..
We have been unable to get a permanent installation of the Internet and a phone
in the compound, so as an interim solution, Hirpo (a friend of VOH in Arsi
Negelle) is providing a small corner of his new office in Arsi
Negelle and our phone and internet connection will be temporarily installed
there. We should have a permanent connection in the compound soon. Not perfect, but much better than our current alternative!! Click here to

Tribute to Bonnie Lathum
Bonnie and two members of her family were found dead
in their home in Sacramento California this week.
Bonnie was always wonderful to work with and an important member of our team.
She was professional and compassionate. Bonnie never complained about being
pressured, tired or frustrated with the less than convenient situation of
working under harried circumstances, through translators and in make-shift
clinics with limited supplies. Click here to

Village of Hope featured in Meridian Magazine
Beneath the ancient branches of the meeting tree stands a rough-hewn bench. It is the place of honor for the Ethiopian village of Kersa Illala. Lon and DeAnna Kennard's family sit on this bench, surrounded by the entire village. Following custom, the men stand in front with women and children behind. Some people creep forward and kiss the Kennard's feet. Despite their hollow cheeks and worn clothing, the villagers' faces smile with gratitude. Click here to see article...
