Join a Humanitarian Expedition
Considering
joining us on one of our upcoming humanitarian expedition to Kersa Illala,
Ethiopia. If you make the decision to join us, we are confident that you will
have the most wonderful life changing experience!
On Expedition you will be spending most of your days working within the Village of Hope’s five and one-half acre compound located in thevillage of Kersa Illala, Ethiopia. The Village of Hope compound includes a medical clinic, high risk children’s center, fresh water as well as kitchen and bathroom facilities. Some expedition activities may take place outside of the compound area. Evenings will be spent at a nearby hotel that is clean, comfortable and even luxurious, by Ethiopian standards.
Each day you will be joining in with the daily activities of the villagers. Your goal will be to provide them insight and encouragement to do things in a way that will improve their health and happiness. You don't need to be an expert at anything, they do not need highly technical help, they need the everyday practices we use without thinking that keep us healthy and happy.
As important as what you will be doing is what you will not be doing. You will not be providing special favors to individuals; this fosters jealousy, selfishness, competition, dissention and begging by the individual to the detriment of the village.
The bottom line is, whatever you can do and are willing to do, will be a major blessing to the loving people in the village. Welcome aboard, come and have a great time!!

Optional Trip Extensions
Making a trip to Africa can be a once in a lifetime experience. For very little additional cost, many expedition members extend their time in Africa by joining a non-humanitarian trip extension. As an accommodation to expedition participants Village of Hope coordinates the following Optional Trip Extensions;

Masai Mara Safari
Have you ever fantasized about a big game drive in Africa? If so, this is the chance of a lifetime. After two short flights you will be in the world famous Masai Mara game park in the country of Kenya. You will literally see all the animals, up close and personal. You will have a wonderful experience you will never forget.
Primitive Tribes of the Omo Valley
On this trip you will get up close and personal with some of the most ancient, and interesting people living on earth. These tribes are kind, well-fed and happy, but live in such a primitive way, you will be amazed. It is a true delight and very exciting and interesting. This is one of the favorite places we have been to and we highly recommend this trip if you have a little adventure and a drop or two of anthropologist in your blood.

Cultural Wonders of Northern Ethiopia
The culture of Ethiopia is truly ancient. As the “birthplace of humanity”, it was old before most other ancient civilizations on earth were even thought of. When you travel in Ethiopia, you see everything from homnid fossils to beautiful castles, towering mountains, beautiful cathedrals and wonderful people. You will love your tour of Ethiopia, a trip well worth the investment of your time and money!
Gorilla Trekking & Rafting in Uganda
Travel to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park on Uganda's extreme western border, very close to the geographical heart of Africa where the confluence of the Rift Valley and the Great Lakes have created an ecosystem that perhaps defines the very essence of the continent.
